Southern XC Round 5, 160717 Pippingford Forest. Race Report by Seb Price

The final round of the Southern XC series was held at Pippingford Forest. Last year this was a wet claggy race, but this time we were lucky and the course was set to be dry and fast.

Edith raced first in the u9s and got stuck into the great looking course. The start/finish straight was a gentle climb leading to a descent on rooty singletrack with a few off-camber corners. After 12 minutes of racing Edith came home in 5th and crucially gained enough series points to finish 2nd overall.

Well done Edith on a good season.

Fred raced next. Having been off the bike with illness, Fred was just happy to be riding. Riding a longer lap and with a race distance of 25minutes, Fred rode himself into the race with progressively faster lap times before finally coming in 11th. This was a great kids race on a really good and testing kids course.

Overall series results:

Edith – 2nd u9s

Fred – 18th u12s

Seb – 18th Open Male

Overall this has been a tremendous Southern XC series. Great courses, good race format on the day and some good competition in all our categories. We’ll be back next season!
